SIRIUS SHOWEQUIPMENT BRINGS THE MESSAGE TO THE MASSES AT ROSTOCK PROTEST CONCERT WITH JBL VERTEC® LINE ARRAYS

NORTHRIDGE, CALIFORNIA, July 19, 2007 — Demonstrating the flexibility of JBL Professional’s VERTEC® VT4880 full-size arrayable subwoofer, Sirius Showequipment AG recently provided a live sound reinforcement system for a unique concert in Rostock, Germany. Held in protest of the G8 summit, the concert drew an audience of more than 70,000, bringing together a lineup of international stars and political figures to address the issue of poverty around the world.
The massive two-day concert featured artists including Brigada Flores Magon, Mono und Nikitaman, Patchanka and Chaoze One, as well as several speakers and short films. The PA system included 64 VERTEC full-size line array elements, with VT4880 subwoofers arranged in matching arrays directly beside the VT4889 arrays. A unique feature of VERTEC subwoofers which is increasingly being recognized as useful by production managers, tour sound technicians and video and stage-set designers, this type of suspended array application provides both visual and acoustical benefits.

“We chose the VERTEC line arrays because they are very efficient and able to cover all styles of music during a concert like this,” said Wolfgang “Schabbach” Neumann of Sirius Showequipment. “Everybody was really happy with the performance of the system. Some of the engineers were saying that they normally would use more cabinets from other manufacturers to achieve the same coverage and volume.”
Given the size of the concert, considerable preparation was put into providing an adequate PA system. “With an event this size you have to make sure that people in the very back can understand every word coming from the sound system,” Neumann added. “So you’d better do your homework and use JBL’s line array calculator software to confirm how the loudspeakers will perform. If this is done right and you refine this onsite during setup day, you won’t run into any surprises.”
“All of us at JBL are pleased to see Sirius Showequipment, one of Europe’s foremost rental sound companies, achieve successful results at this culturally significant event,” said David Scheirman, Vice President of Tour Sound, JBL Professional. “The clarity, fidelity and power of VERTEC line arrays continue to be recognized worldwide when used at events such as this, which require adequate coverage for large crowds and pristine audio for various programming, from live music to speech to video playback.”
