ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, January 18, 2007 — In an introduction that makes its category-leading VRX Series an even more versatile and compelling compact line array selection, JBL Professional today unveiled the new VRX928LA line array loudspeaker and the VRX915S compact, high-power suspendable subwoofer. The VRX928LA is a lightweight, compact 8-inch, 2-way, 400-watt line array loudspeaker system that provides line array performance in smaller applications that do not require the long-throw characteristics of its larger, hugely successful sibling, the VRX932LA. The VRX915S subwoofer contains a 2265G neodymium magnet, patented Differential Drive®, 15-inch woofer in a front-loaded, vented enclosure. The VRX915S complements the VRX928LA line array loudspeaker and both can be safely suspended using the VRX-SMAF small array frame.

According to Simon Jones, Director of Portable PA Marketing, JBL Professional, the VRX Series continues to advance the state-of-the-art in compact line array technology, bringing innovations from the large-format tour market where JBL VERTEC® line arrays have become the rider standard, while also addressing the size, cost and portability issues unique to mid-sized venues. “The VRX family was specifically engineered to be high-performing, versatile and eminently scalable so that VRX owners could serve a wide array of AV customers and applications,” Jones explained. “The huge success of the VRX932LA and VRX918S subwoofer confirmed the real need for line array solutions in these smaller applications. Our goal with the VRX928LA and VRX915S is to extend high performance line arrays into even more applications and extend the capabilities of our customers to serve new clients and new markets!”

Ideal for any vocal or musical live performance applications, as well as mobile and fixed DJ systems, the light and compact JBL VRX915S boasts a 15-inch, 2265G-1 Differential Drive woofer with an 800-watt AES power rating that provides extended low-frequency output. The VRX915S features integral rigging hardware for simple connection of VRX928LA line-arrays and optional array frame and may be used in arrays consisting entirely of VRX915S subwoofers. Additionally, the VRX915S is equipped with a top-mounted, threaded, 20mm socket that can receive the optional SS4-BK pole. This adjustable height pole can be used to mount speakers equipped with standard 36mm pole sockets. The VRX928LA may be flown in arrays of up to six but also features a dual angle pole socket for aiming flexibility that enables one or two speakers to be mounted to a 35mm pole or tripod stand. One or two VRX928LA elements may also be used on a tripod or over subwoofers like the VRX915S. The integral rigging hardware is used to securely lock the array together.
