NORTHRIDGE,
CALIFORNIA, August 13, 2004 — In an introduction
that truly resets the bar for loudspeaker performance and weight
reduction, JBL Professional today unveiled the SRX700 Series
of portable PA loudspeakers. Consisting of seven system configurations,
the SRX700 Series offers an unprecedented combination of advanced
audio technologies. Compared to previous and competitive products,
many SRX700 models actually weigh 30% to 50% less — yet
without any loss of power or performance. The result is a mid-sized
portable PA system that brings a new level of convenience to
the user while improving the high level of sound quality for
which JBL has long been known.
At the heart of the
new SRX700 Series are JBL Professional's patented Differential
Drive® woofers with neodymium magnets.
Neodymium's magnetic properties allow a few ounces to replace
pounds of conventional magnet. JBL engineers created a design
that reduces the massive (and heavy) steel top plates, back plates,
and pole pieces that complete the “magnetic circuit”.
The JBL Differential Drive design uses two voice-coils for greater
power handling and actually puts the small neodymium magnets
inside the voice-coil. This design greatly reduces weight while
increasing power capacity, decreasing distortion, and reducing
power compression. Many of the drivers used in SRX700 are shared
with JBL’s acclaimed VerTec® Series tour sound line
arrays.
Beyond advanced speaker
design, the SRX700 Series offers further advantages, including
premium construction materials (birch plywood),
a DuraFlex® finish and 16-gauge steel grills. The SRX700
Series looks as good as it sounds.
The individual elements of the SRX700 Series are a synergy of
these design achievements. For instance, the SRX715 brings additional
flexibility thanks to the inclusion of a dual-angle pole socket
for mounting, and offers the highest performance possible from
a stand-mountable speaker at a weight of only 48 lbs.
In another example
of how the SRX700 Series sets new standards of weight/performance
ratios, the SRX722 dual-12-inch enclosure
can sustain 1200 watts continuous and 4800 watts peak power,
yet at 76 lbs. is light enough for one person to handle. And
when combined with either the SRX718S 18-inch bass-reflex sub
or the SRX728S dual-18-inch sub, the combination creates an awesome
full-range system that weighs as little as 155 lbs. — concert-level
audio that can be assembled by a single person!
The SRX700 Series
confers other advantages on users. The SRX712M 12-inch 2-way
stage monitor provides 90 X 50 degrees of smooth,
even coverage regardless of the position of the performer. Despite
its high level of performance, the SRX712M is only 12 inches
high so it is unobstrusive and doesn’t block audience sightlines.
Again, JBL Professional has taken into consideration not only
the technical performance of the SRX700 components but also the
need for esthetically superior physical design, as PA systems
become increasingly part of the overall set design for many performances.
“Users will appreciate SRX700 before, during and after
the gig.” stated Gerry Tschetter, Director of Portable
P.A. Marketing, JBL Professional. “Before the show they’ll
appreciate the professional good looks. During the performance
they’ll be impressed by the high-quality sound, and when
it’s time to load out, they’ll really appreciate
the light weight.”
