JBL PROFESSIONAL EXPANDS CONTROL® CONTRACTOR LINE WITH IN-WALL LOUDSPEAKERS

New additions to JBL Professional Control® Contractor
family deliver high fidelity performance for demanding
continuous output commercial applications.

LONDON, ENGLAND, September 12, 2004 — Reaffirming its commitment to provide contractors and consultants in the systems integration community with a comprehensive line of high-performing loudspeakers that are both versatile and consistent, JBL Professional is featuring two premium in-wall loudspeakers to its successful Control® Contractor line of commercial loudspeakers. Like other units in the JBL Professional Control Contractor line, the new Control 126W and Control 128W have been engineered to deliver easy integration along with JBL Professional’s trademark great sound and reliability.

The new JBL Control 126W is a 2-way with a 6-1/2” high-performance woofer. The Control 128W is a 2-way featuring an 8” high-performance woofer. Both units feature deep-polymer-coated aluminum cone for high performance into the 30 Hz range and pure butyl rubber surround for long-life and extra reliability. The Control 126W and Control 128W both feature an extended-polepiece magnet design for long excursion and tight, low bass. High-slope crossover networks ensure that the Control 126W and Control 128W maintain natural midrange sound. The new in-wall Control Contractor loudspeakers feature pure titanium high frequency drivers housed in a low-diffraction swivel-mounting system, which enables systems integrators to direct high frequencies where required.

The Control Contractor in-wall units are sized to fit into the standard wall space of typical stud-wall construction. Optional rough-in frames are available for installing the speakers onto standard studs in new - construction. As is the case with all Control Contractor speakers, the baffles and grilles are paintable to match any décor.

“The success of the Control Contractor Series can be attributed to the excellent performance, reliability and versatility across the board,” explained Rick Kamlet, Senior Director of Commercial Installed Sound at JBL Professional. “We’ve been able to deliver this package of features at affordable price points that enable our partners in the contractor and consultant communities to win competitive bids. Today’s introduction of the new Control Contractor in-wall loudspeakers extends our commitment to serve these communities and provides them with another tool they can use to serve their customers.”

The JBL Professional Control Contractor line is especially designed to deliver high fidelity performance for subtle, critical music listening and yet also accommodate the demand for continuous output of today’s highly compressed music. Control 126W handles 50 Watts RMS (200 Watts peak) with a frequency response of 38 Hz to 20 kHz. Control 128W handles 60 Watts RMS (240 Watts peak) from 30 Hz to 20 kHz. JBL Professional field-tested the new Control 126W and Control 128W speakers in a variety of demanding applications including high-volume retail outlets and even for the box-seats at Seattle’s prestigious Benaroya Concert Hall. The feedback underscored the speakers’ high continuous output level and high fidelity performance.
