NOKIA THEATRE TIMES SQUARE HITS THE BIG TIME WITH JBL PROFESSIONAL SOUND SYSTEM COURTESY
OF CLAIR BROTHERS

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, October 7, 2005— Demonstrating the ability of JBL Professional’s loudspeaker range to meet the full spectrum of engineered sound requirements, the recently opened Nokia Theatre Times Square in New York City features a complete high-end audio system comprised of loudspeakers from various JBL product lines. Located in the heart of fabled Times Square, the theater is the product of a collaboration between Nokia and AEG LIVE, the live entertainment division of AEG.

While AEG LIVE specified and provided the infrastructure for the sound system, Clair Brothers Systems integration firm performed the installation, tuning and verification of the equipment. According to Jim Devenney, Senior Audio Systems Designer, Clair Brothers Systems, the use of JBL VERTEC® line arrays proved to be an ideal solution for the challenging dimensions of the space.

“The biggest challenge acoustically at the Nokia Theatre Times Square is the low ceiling height and getting even coverage front to back,” Devenney said. “The VERTEC VT4888 line array speakers really help in this type of situation as the arrays can be power shaded to throw to the raised seating area without being too loud for the audience seated near the front.”

The system, powered by Crown I-Tech amplifiers, includes 12 JBL VERTEC VT4888 line array elements acting as the main left and right PA speakers, six VERTEC VT4887 line array elements for the main delays, four SRX712M speakers for the second delay system, six AM6212 speaker used for fills, and eight ASB6128V subwoofers. The monitor system features 12 SRX712M floor monitors, two SRX715 side fills, and two SRX718 drum subwoofers.

“The leading Harman Pro technology integrated by Clair Brothers is an incredible combination that ensures the Nokia Theatre Times Square is artist rider-friendly, sounds fantastic and will make for a stunning concert venue,” said Ted Leamy, Vice President, Installed Sound, JBL Professional.
