Richter Scale Productions and JBL Professional Boost Denver's Magness Arena with AE, PD Series Loudspeakers and VERTEC® Series Line Arrays

NORTHRIDGE, CA, September 7, 2004 — Highlighting the industry’s most versatile and adaptable loudspeaker technologies, JBL Professional announced that it had provided a complement of AE and PD Series speakers to Richter Scale Productions for installation at the University of Denver’s Magness Arena. The high-quality, yet cost-effective design of both the AE and PD Series allowed the arena to replace an existing system with a more robust and flexible setup for its upcoming busy season.

After realizing that its existing system was not large enough to keep the arena on a par with the country’s other top arenas, the managers contacted Harold Richter of Richter Scale Productions to design a new system. With a restricted budget, Richter was able to maintain quality and cost effectiveness using seven AM4212/95’s, six AM6212/95’s, twelve PD5322/95’s and twenty-four PD5322/64’s to fill out the system, putting together a unified collection of products to keep costs down and performance up. It is all powered by Crown, including twelve MA 3600's, twenty-five 5002’s and two 2402's with the system being controlled by BSS Soundweb.

“The combination of our AE and PD systems in this arena demonstrates how well our different speaker systems can be combined to meet demands both for economy and high-quality SPL performance,” said Ted Leamy, Market Director, Engineered Sound, JBL Professional. “The arrayability of the PD5000 Series not only ensures reliable sound coverage and flexibility for the installer, but PD loudspeakers are also built to work seamlessly with the AE Series. As is the case with Magness, these two lines truly complement each other in forming a complete sound system.”

“The whole system was perfect for the budget and performance demands issued to us by the people at Magness,” said Harold Richter, President of Richter Scale Productions. “With JBL’s help we were able to combine AE and PD speakers and still rock the house. I chose the Crown amps because, as far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing out there that’s as good.”

Richter Scale Productions has been providing the Western U.S. with professional sound, staging and lights for more than 20 years. Having staged many events at Magness, Richter understood the demands of the facility and the type of system required to fulfill the needs of a modern arena.
