| NORTHRIDGE,
CALIFORNIA, August 3, 2005 — Bringing two
musical legends together this summer for the first time in 29
years, pop/rock artists Loggins and Messina hit the road with
the help of On Stage Audio, which is supporting the concert audio
with JBL VERTEC line array systems. The North American tour kicked
off June 22 in Boise, ID and is scheduled to continue through
October.

In addition
to being president of the veteran sound rental company, OSA’s Mario Educate is handling front-of-house engineering
duties on the Loggins and Messina tour. According to Educate,
clarity is the main priority from his standpoint. “Loggins
and Messina demand a very clear sound, like a large stereo system,” he
said. “Volume is not as important as articulation of vocals,
and musical clarity.”
OSA’s setup on the road consists of 36 VERTEC VT4889 full-size
line array elements and 20 VT4880 arrayable subwoofers. The system
is fully powered by Crown I-Tech 6000 amplifiers. Supplementing
the VERTEC system are JBL VRX932LA portable line array speakers.
The VRX932LA’s are arranged two on each side for side fills,
with another six in the center for individual front fills.
“We wanted to keep the total sound consistent with the
VERTEC arrays, and the VRX speakers are so lightweight and keep
a low profile, in addition to having a great sound,” Educate
added.
David Scheirman,
JBL’s director of tour sound, notes that
On Stage Audio is one of a few top-tier rental companies in the
USA able to successfully bridge the gap between the rigorous
demands of touring concert audio, and the detail-oriented needs
of corporate and business theatrical productions. “OSA
has a good mix of staff and gear, and they use their resources
to satisfy a broad client base,” observed Scheirman. “OSA’s
flexible inventory of JBL VERTEC loudspeaker systems is a key
to this rental firm’s success in today’s market”,
he noted.
“We’re one of the largest owners of JBL VERTEC line
array boxes anywhere—we have over 500 assorted VERTEC pieces,” Educate
explained. “They sound terrific, and the support we get
from the manufacturer has been a huge help.”
