JBL PROFESSIONAL NOW SHIPPING LSR6300 STUDIO MONITORS

Chosen for Korn and Graceland Projects

ANAHEIM, CA – January 15, 2004 – JBL Professional announced shipment of the LSR6300 Series line of studio monitors at the NAMM show in Anaheim. The new line incorporates patented transducer technologies and revolutionary RMC™ Room Mode Correction system to minimize the effect of standing waves and acoustic problems in the production environment. The result is more accurate performance at the mix position in any size control room.

First to use the LSR6300 system was GRAMMY® Award-winning Engineer, Frank Filipetti, who used two LSR6328P and two LSR6312SP Subwoofers to mix the new Korn project at the recording studio of Korn band member, Jonathan Davis. Filipetti says the benefit of the LSR6300 system with RMC is substantial. He explained the long narrow geometry of the room created low frequency anomylies which made it difficult for him to judge the bass content of his mixes. “We set up the JBL’s and immediately I was able to get a much truer sense of what was going on in the low end,” stated Filipetti. “The mixes we’re getting now are right on the money.” With the ability to tune the speakers to any room, Filipetti chose the LSR6300 system for a project with Phil Ramone, the 5.1 remix of Paul Simon’s legendary Graceland. “These speakers are smooth; the cross-over points seem very smooth. I like them a lot,” said Filipetti. On the effectiveness of JBL’s RMC technology, Filipetti remarked, “It’s made quite a difference. Now I can get the sound that I want at the desk, and I can make pretty much all my rooms sound the same. I’m very happy right now with where we are.” Low frequency standing waves, caused by the room’s geometry, can cause “boominess” at the mix position and contribute to an inaccurate representation of low frequency content. The ability to achieve accurate low frequency response is particularly challenging in smaller home and project studios. The LSR6328P and the LSR6312SP subwoofer incorporate a new JBL RMC Room Mode Correction circuit, which eliminates the effect of low frequency room modes, allowing accurate bass response at the mix position. The RMC Calibration Kit provides everything the user needs to measure the room response, identify room modes, and calibrate the response of the system. Once calibrated, the RMC system dramatically improves low frequency performance at the mix position in any size room.

JBL Professional Director of Recording and Broadcast, Peter Chaikin said, “Our objective is to go beyond “accurate” and solve the problems in the mix environment. By incorporating Room Mode Correction technology, even a small production space can have accurate performance at the mix position. The new LSR6300 speakers eliminate the guess-work and make mixing a pleasure.”

The LSR6300 Series includes three new models: The LSR6328P bi-amplified reference monitor with 8” woofer and 1” tweeter; the LSR6332 reference monitor with 12” woofer, 5” midrange, and 1” tweeter; and the LSR6312SP subwoofer. These models include patented JBL transducer technology to create ultra-accurate response. The LSR6312SP includes sophisticated bass management circuitry and a full feature-set for multi-channel audio production. The current LSR25P, compact bi-amplified reference monitor with 5.25” woofer and 1” tweeter, can be used in systems with any of the new models. All four models include mounting points for use with readily available mounting hardware, magnetic shielding for use near video monitors, and are THX® pm3™ approved. The LSR6328P includes handles for ease of transportation and positioning in the room.
