JBL PROFESSIONAL INCREASES OPTIONS FOR VENUE PERFORMANCE SERIES WITH AFFORDABLE NEW INPUT MODULES

Optional input modules engineered with dbx provide onboard digital signal processing for VP Series powered speakers at lower cost. JBL is also showcasing its two latest additions to the VP Series line, the VP7210/95DP and VP7212MDP compact powered loudspeakers.

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, June 19, 2007 — Bringing further versatility to its overwhelmingly successful Venue Performance (VP) Series of premium powered loudspeakers, JBL Professional is now offering optional DPIP (JBL DrivePack® Input Processor) analog input modules for its six original VP Series models. Engineered with dbx, these input modules now provide a “plug and play” approach for system users who do not require the added cost and complexity of networked control and monitoring, or audio over Ethernet. These input modules provide sophisticated onboard digital signal processing with precision band-pass limiting, pre-equalization filters and automatic self-test functions to ensure optimized performance.

Each JBL DrivePack used in the VP Series is equipped with a modular input bay to accept one of several different input module options. These now include the DPIP for analog input, the DPAN which offers analog input with complete digital network control, or the DPCN which provides digital audio input with integral “single-wire” network control. The DPAN and DPCN input modules are HiQnet™ compatible using Harman Professional’s System Architect™ software.

The new VP models, now available with the DPIP module, provide sophisticated onboard digital signal processing with precision band-pass limiting, pre-equalization filters and automatic self-test functions to ensure optimized performance.

Additionally, JBL is showcasing its two newest models to the VP Series lineup, the VP7210/95DP compact utility speaker and the VP7212MDP stage monitor. These introductions effectively raise the standard for versatility and power in performance audio systems for either professional portable or fixed sound reinforcement applications. This brings the total number of models in the VP Series to eight.

The VP7210/95DP is a powered, 10-inch, two-way integrated loudspeaker system, perfect for spot-fill applications, featuring 1,750 watts of peak output power and onboard digital signal processing. The VP7210/95DP transducers are JBL’s 2260FF 10-inch diameter Differential Drive® woofer and the JBL 2452H-SL compression driver. The high-frequency driver is coupled to a JBL PT-D95HF Progressive Transition™ Waveguide for excellent 90 x 50-degree pattern control, smooth frequency response and low distortion. The VP7210/95DP is also easily rotated for horizontal or vertical system orientation.

Designed specifically as a low-profile stage monitor, the VP7212MDP is a powered, 12-inch, two-way integrated loudspeaker system. It features 1,750 watts of peak output power and onboard digital signal processing. The VP7212MDP transducers are JBL’s 2262FF 12-inch diameter Differential Drive woofer and the JBL 2452H-SL compression driver. Like the VP7210/95DP, the high-frequency driver is coupled to a JBL PT-D95HF Progressive Transition Waveguide. The VP7212MDP features a baffle, which can be reversed in the field and can be configured for left or right applications.

As with all VP Series models, the VP7210/95DP and VP7212MDP were designed in cooperation with Crown International. The DPC-2 amplifier module features Crown’s Class D digital power amplification circuitry. DBT (Dual-Bridged Technology™) directly links discrete amplifier channel outputs to each voice-coil in JBL’s Differential Drive loudspeakers, maximizing electrical power transfer to the transducers for optimum system performance. In addition, these new VP Series models feature robust powder-coated, die-cast aluminum handles, designed for strength and comfort.

The VRX928LA is a lightweight, compact 8-inch, 2-way, 400-watt line array loudspeaker system that provides line array performance in applications that do not require the long-throw characteristics of its larger, hugely successful sibling, the VRX932LA. The VRX915S subwoofer contains a 2265G neodymium magnet, patented Differential Drive®, 15-inch woofer in a front-loaded, vented enclosure. The VRX915S complements the VRX928LA line array loudspeaker and both can be safely suspended using the VRX-SMAF small array frame.

Ideal for any vocal or musical live performance applications, as well as mobile and fixed DJ systems, the light and compact JBL VRX915S boasts a 15-inch, 2265G-1 Differential Drive woofer with an 800-watt AES power rating that provides extended low-frequency output. The VRX915S features integral rigging hardware for simple connection of VRX928LA line-arrays and optional array frame and may be used in arrays consisting entirely of VRX915S subwoofers. Additionally, the VRX915S is equipped with a top-mounted, threaded, 20mm socket that can receive the optional SS4-BK pole. This adjustable height pole can be used to mount speakers equipped with standard 36mm pole sockets.

The VRX928LA may be flown in arrays of up to six but also features a dual angle pole socket for aiming flexibility that enables one or two speakers to be mounted to a 35mm pole or tripod stand. One or two VRX928LA elements may also be used on a tripod or over subwoofers like the VRX915S. The integral rigging hardware is used to securely lock the array together.
