| LAS
VEGAS, NEVADA, October 22, 2004 — Further strengthening
JBL Professional’s leadership of the tour sound market,
Franklin, TN-based CTS Audio recently purchased a new arena-sized
JBL VERTEC system. Delivery and preparation of the new rig was
followed by a certified technical training course for the company’s
engineering staff with the first day focused at CTS’ shop
and the second day at the Gaylord Entertainment Center rehearsal
hall in Nashville, TN.
While the first day
involved classroom instruction to discuss line array theory,
VERTEC system model and array mechanics, digital
signal processing and JBL’s line array calculator software,
the second day featured more hands-on training. Using suspended
arrays, members of the CTS Audio engineering staff learned to
rig the system and set it up in different combinations. The system’s
flexibility and versatile packaging, according to Carl Taylor,
President of CTS Audio, were major factors in the company’s
investment in a new VERTEC system. “We chose JBL’s
VERTEC for its light weight and the fact that different models
in the product line work together well but can also perform separate,
unique functions,” he said. “The third main reason
was the broad acceptance of the product — it’s widely
recognized as one of the top line array systems in the industry,
and with that comes a certain level of familiarity on the part
of the sound engineers.”
CTS Audio, which services
a broad variety of corporate staging and large-scale civic
events along with clients in the Christian
music arena (including Steven Curtis Chapman, who began touring
with the VERTEC system in October), takes pride in providing
its clients with the latest in audio technology along with skilled
technicians to deploy it. “It’s important that our
staff is well-trained, and we appreciate that JBL came out and
spent the time to educate us,” Taylor added. “They’ve
given us great support along with a great product.”
Since first introducing
the VERTEC line array system in 2000, JBL Professional has
conducted certified training courses for
various rental and tour system owners throughout Asia, Europe
and North America. Product specialists serving each geographical
region regularly provide system users with up to date information
and focused education. “A large-scale line array system,
properly set up and ready for use with international touring
artists, represents a significant investment,” offered
David Scheirman, Director of Tour Sound for JBL Professional. “Making
sure that our customers are fully equipped to get the best results
from their new sound system investment is one of our priorities.
The industry’s interest in line array technology, and in
learning firsthand about how these systems really work, continues
to grow around the world. “
