BLUE RODEO CORRALS CANADA WITH
JBL VERTEC® LINE ARRAY SYSTEM

Ten-week national tour features top-of-the-line sound system
provided by Ontario’s Sound Explosion

NORTHRIDGE, CALIFORNIA, August 30, 2005 — In an example of the lightweight yet powerful qualities of the JBL VERTEC® line array series, Blue Rodeo, Canada’s most popular roots rock band, are currently on tour throughout their native Canada. The group is using an expansive VERTEC concert sound rig for more than 40 shows in venues of various sizes, ranging from small auditoriums to large arenas and amphitheaters. According to Blue Rodeo’s sound crew, the versatile audio system has contributed to the tour’s success.

“This is such an easy PA to use, the setup is so quick, and we were comfortable with it right away,” said Paul Caccamo, head tech for the Blue Rodeo tour. With twelve albums to their credit including a greatest hits compilation, Blue Rodeo have a large fan base and are committed to recreating their unique, eclectic sound in a live performance setting. “The band wanted the PA to be exceptionally clear for this tour, which has been the case with VERTEC. In fact, the band feels they haven’t sounded this good in a long time.”

Provided by Sound Explosion of Courtice, Ontario, the Blue Rodeo tour system comprises compact JBL VT4887 and full-size VT4889 line array elements, JBL SRX728 subwoofers, Crown I-Tech amplifiers and BSS FDS-366T OmniDrive digital signal processing. In most large venues, up to 32 suspended VT4887’s are combined with VT4889 arrays, while the subwoofers are ground-stacked. Sound Explosion deploys only VT4887 compact arrays with a reduced complement of subs in smaller venues. This is Sound Explosion’s first tour with Blue Rodeo, and the band’s first time employing a VERTEC system.

Founded and directed by David Gardner, Sound Explosion has relied on VERTEC for a variety of applications since the company’s inception two years ago. “We preferred the VERTEC because it not only has tremendous horsepower, but also provides a lot of warmth and depth for live-music reproduction,” Gardner said.
