CALIFORNIA, November 24, 2004 — This year,
Serbia marks the 200th anniversary since the start of the First
Serbian Uprising and the creation of a modern Serbian state.
In commemoration of this important regional event, "Europe
in Belgrade", a ceremonial concert, was recently staged
in the concert hall at Belgrade’s Sava Center to bring
together many interpreters of classical music from throughout
Europe. The Belgrade audience had an opportunity to listen to
a diverse collection of artists of Serbian origin who have achieved

Serbian sound company Studio Berar provided sound and lighting
for the "Europe in Belgrade" concert, commemorating
Serbia’s 200th anniversary. Studio Berar used JBL VERTEC
VT 4889 line array elements, Crown CTs amplifiers and dbx DriveRack
system controllers. The
program, which was transmitted by the national broadcast agency
TV RTS, included performers from Hungary (conductor
Janos Kovac and The Budapest Philharmonic) and tenor
Attila Fekete,
Austria (mezzo-soprano Leandra Overmann), Russia (conductor
Vladislav Chernushenko and The State Academic Chorus
of Saint Petersburg)
and Turkey (basso Tuncay Kortoglu, soloist of the Ankara
Opera and Ballet). All together, 200 instrumentalists
and 200 singers
musically reflected upon the last two centuries since 1804.
All musicians joined together in a climactic performance
of Beethoven’s “Ode
to Joy”.
Novi Sad-based Studio Berar was contracted to provide full
sound and lighting services for this ambitious musical
project. The
concert audio system included 20 JBL VERTEC VT 4889 full-size
line array elements, set up in left and right arrays
of ten enclosures each. The system was powered by 36
Crown CTs amplifiers.
System
signal processing was effected with six dbx DriveRack
480 digital system controllers.
“
The high fidelity and broad dynamic range of the VERTEC system
are well-suited to reproduce the subtle nuances of classical
and operatic performances,” noted Martin Seidl, JBL’s
Director of European Sales. “Studio Berar is a very quality-oriented
audio services provider, and the company very capably represents
JBL’s worldwide network of VERTEC system owners
from their location in Central Europe.”
