JBL PROFESSIONAL UNVEILS NEW VERTEC™ LINE ARRAY SYSTEM JBL VERTEC LOUDSPEAKERS AT DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION

LONDON & LOS ANGELES, CA (SEPTEMBER 10, 2000) — Just weeks before its September introduction, JBL Professional supplied sixty-eight model VT4889 VERTEC™ Line Array Speaker Systems for exclusive use at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles’ Staples Center.

To meet the challenge of a political convention in Los Angeles’ cavernous Staples Center, Event Sound Designer Patrick Baltzell required line array elements that were lighter weight and more powerful than anything else available. System design constraints in the venue led the industry leading designer to select JBL’s new system, de-spite the fact that the new system had not yet been officially launched." Due to ceiling weight restrictions and television camera sight lines, it would  have been difficult to do this show with other systems," stated Baltzell.

"JBL’s Vertical Technology™ has been in development for sometime now," explained Michael MacDonald, JBL Professional President." In some ways, new larger-scale arrays of this type are an extension of the popular line array technology like that which JBL pioneered in 1975 with the 4681  and 4682 models. VERTEC has been designed to meet and exceed the array physics of the other commercially available systems on the market for the past few years. Since VerTec does this with lower weight, higher output and reduced distortion, it was ideal for a demanding event such as the Democratic National Convention."

For the DNC, 68 VERTEC enclosures were flown in 14 separate array locations. For information regarding the DNC go to CNN Election 2000 includes daily photos of the preparation for the convention.
