JBL SMS1 SOUNDZONE MUSIC SYSTEM BRINGS FULL FIDELITY AUDIO TO RETAILERS, RESTAURANTS AND OTHER BUSINESSES

LOS ANGELES, SEPTEMBER 22, 2000 — Following up the highly successful Soundzone™ Music Controllers, JBL Professional has introduced the SMS1 Soundzone Music System. This affordable, complete business music system is ideal for retail stores, restaurants, and other business applications. Fully self-contained with four satellite speakers, the SMS1 base station contains power amplification for all speakers, a controller for background music source and for an optional announcing microphone, and a subwoofer for providing full range, clear natural sound.

Useful, user-friendly features are also integral to SMS1’s design. When the microphone is in use, the SMS1 automatically lowers the music audio for message intelligibility. The Auto Warmth™ feature uses advanced signal processing to add fullness at lower levels, to provide optimum sound at all volumes. Audio quality is further enhanced by Level Guard™, which automatically keeps the music level in check within the selected volume range.

The heart of the SMS1 system is the SMS1-Sub, which may also be purchased separately. The SMS1- Sub contains all of the amplification for four satellite speakers and the subwoofer. A built-in controller allows one music source (such as programmed music, CD player, tuner, or tape player) and one paging microphone to be hooked up to the system. Finally, the SMS1-Sub base unit also includes a subwoofer, which reproduces the lower frequencies necessary for full range music and audio. By adding to the overall wide frequency response of the SMS1 Soundzone Music System, this subwoofer feature allows the Satellite speakers to be very small and unobtrusive.

Four SMS1-Sat tiny satellite speakers complete the SMS1 System. Each speaker is just 5.25" tall by 3.5" wide by 3.5" deep. They can be located at strategic spots within the facility. The SMS1-Sat is easily installed using JBL’s patented Invisiball™ mount, which allows a wide range of adjustment in a unique theft-resistant design.

The SMS1 Soundzone Music System has a US suggested retail price of $895. Single components may also be purchase and may be used for other Soundzone installations. If ceiling speakers are preferred, the new JBL Control 24CT Micro Speaker can be used in addition to or instead of the SMS1-Sat Speaker. The JBL model Z-M1 paging microphone is recommended for this system.
