LONDON, England – Underscoring the continued global adoption of VerTec line arrays for European festivals,
concerts and special events, Warsaw-based sound company GMB Pro Sound supplied a JBL VERTEC® system
for the recent 2009 Heineken Open’er Festival in Poland. Performances by major international acts like Kings of
Leon, Prodigy, Moby and Faith No More highlighted the open-air Festival, which drew more than 50,000 people
each of the Festival’s four days, and took place July 2-5 near Gydnia on the north coast of Poland.
With sound systems packaged for use in all types of venues, from television studios to sports stadiums to
exhibit grounds, GMB Pro Sound has been one of the most versatile event production companies in the region
since its inception in 1994. The company offers a complete range of services, including lighting, staging, video,
pyrotechnics and scenery production services, in addition to audio rental systems. The company services a
wide range of live events and concerts, including televised award shows, music festivals, conferences and
conventions. GMB Pro Sound stocks a wide range of JBL speaker system products in its rental inventory
besides the VT4889 full-size line array system fielded for the Heineken Open’er Festival, including a VT4887
compact line array system along with VRX, SR and MPro Series loudspeakers.
For the Heineken Open’er Festival, GMB Pro Sound supplied a VERTEC system featuring VT4889 full-size line
array elements, with twin 18-box main arrays supplemented by 6-box left and right in-fill arrays, plus flying
VERTEC sidefills. A large, temporary outdoor stage with a massive overhead canopy was constructed for the
event, and triple-support scaffolding towers were erected to support the
lightweight VERTEC speaker arrays. Even with suspension hardware, each
main 18-box array weighed less than 1,352 kg (2,980 lb), under 1.5 tons
due to the VT4889’s individual box weight of just 72.6 kg (160 lb).
“When veteran rental sound firms like GMB Pro Sound assess how to best
service an outdoor festival event with major international concert acts, it all
matters: power, fidelity, consistent coverage, throw, and ease of setup,”
noted David Scheirman, Vice President, Tour Sound for JBL Professional.
“Owners Janusz Totopi and Leon Paduch have assembled a talented,
veteran staff to deploy large-scale festival sound systems. We’re very
pleased to see this professional production company deploying JBL’s
VERTEC system products in this type of application, meeting the needs of
discriminating artists and their touring sound engineers.”
