Reaffirming JBL Professional's ongoing commitment to the highest
standards of cinema sound reproduction, the company today announced
that its JBL ScreenArray, highly advanced cinema sound speaker
system, has received THX approval by Lucas Film THX. Two distinct
versions of the three-way ScreenArray system; the JBL 4632 ScreenArray for medium to large cinema applications and the JBL 3632 ScreenArray for small to medium venues mean that this stunning new
technology from JBL Professional can cover the entire spectrum of
theaters throughout the world, fulfilling the promise of great sound
in every seat.
The new ScreenArray systems from JBL Professional utilize a host
of new sound technologies devised specifically for the ScreenArray.
These include Screen Spreading Compensation (SSC™), a technology
which automatically corrects the spread of high frequency information
through perforated screens. Another is Focused Coverage Technology™, which provides the ScreenArray system with an
asymmetrical coverage pattern 10 degrees down from horizontal for
uniform sound in every seat in stadium-type seating configurations,
along with a passive signal processing network to control the line
array of mid-range sound elements.
In addition, ScreenArray systems
feature second generation Optimized Aperture Waveguide technology for
ultra-low distortion characteristics and extremely uniform frequency
response across the systems' 30 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response
range.
Both the JBL 4632 ScreenArray and the JBL 3632 ScreenArray share
all of the new technical advances and developments, with each system
optimized for the demands of different size
venues. The JBL 4632 has
a rated maximum peak SPL of 135 dB with system power ratings of 800
watts for the low frequencies and 200 watts for the mid and high
frequency section.
The JBL 3632 tailors these specifications for
smaller venues with a maximum peak SPL rating of 129 dB, and 500
watts and 150 watts, respectively, for the low and mid/high frequency
sections. The 4632 is 95.6 inches tall by 30 inches wide by 17.75 inches deep. The 3632 shares the shallow depth, and width, with a 76.3 inch height.
All ScreenArray systems are designed for simple installation in
any theater environment, using a flat-front design for easy
bafflewall installation, a shallow profile for minimum depth behind
screens, and all systems are preassembled and pre-aimed for simple
yet precise implementation.
