|JBL PROFESSIONAL INTRODUCES CONTROL® CONTRACTOR 50 SERIES SUBWOOFER-SATELLITE LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEM
The Control 50 Series features full-range, high-fidelity sound, an elegant design and easy installation.
ORLANDO, Florida – At InfoComm 09, JBL is introducing the Control® Contractor 50 Series, a non-powered,
surface-mount, subwoofer-satellite loudspeaker system for applications where wide-bandwidth, high-fidelity
foreground/background music is required. The Control 50’s stylish appearance, easy mounting, and
compatibility with JBL’s Control 40 Series in-ceiling models make it the most versatile subwoofer-satellite
system in its class.
“JBL developed the Control 50 Series to meet the needs of any commercial environment where high-quality
audio and stylish visual appearance are top priorities, including restaurants, retail stores, music cafes, health
clubs, theme bars and leisure venues,” said Rick Kamlet, Senior Director, Commercial Installed Sound, JBL
Professional. “To that end, the Control 50 Series provides an optimal combination of elegant design and
smooth, accurate sound.”
The sleek Control 52 satellite loudspeaker produces superb high-fidelity sound via a low-distortion, 2.5-inch
driver, which features a secondary bucking magnet for high efficiency, rubber half roll surround for enhanced
bass performance, a .75-inch, copper-clad, aluminum wire voice coil on a vented Nomex® former for high
fidelity and reliability, and a copper-capped pole piece for more consistent impedance and extended highfrequency
response. The wall bracket allows each speaker to be angled up to 45 degrees in any direction.
The 100 Watts continuous (400 Watts peak) Control 50S/T subwoofer
contains a high-power, long-excursion, 8-inch driver that features an
extremely robust, high-mass cone for extended low-frequency response, a
1.5-inch, 4-layer copper voice coil for high motor strength, an aluminum
former for good transient response, and a rubber half roll surround for
enhanced bass performance. The Control 50S/T subwoofer is very easy to
install, featuring a 2-piece, easy mount, drop-in wall bracket. The system’s
crossover network is built into the subwoofer. A cover over the Control
50S/T terminal cup keeps wiring neat.
Connection of the subwoofer is straightforward, utilizing removable locking
connectors, allowing for easy pre-wiring with snap-in connection. The
70V/100V tap setting or low-impedance setting is selected via a simple
rotary switch located on the subwoofer’s wiring panel.
Available as a packaged system or as separate items, the Control 50
Series is extremely versatile. The C50PACK system contains four Control
52 satellite speakers and one Control 50S/T subwoofer as an easy,
predesigned system. For smaller floor spaces, the Control 50S/T
subwoofer can be utilized with two Control 52 satellite speakers.
Both the Control 50S/T and Control 52 can be mixed with the existing
Control 40 Series in-ceiling models—the Control 40CS/T subwoofer and/or
Control 42 satellite speaker—to match whatever the form factor may be
Control 50 Series models are available in either black or white.
