| NORTHRIDGE,
CA – JANUARY 16, 2003 – Massachusetts-based Scorpio
Sound recently purchased a sizable VERTECTM system and has since
utilized the new rig at shows and events all over New England.
From New Hampshire to New Jersey, Scorpio Sound has put their
new VERTEC system to the test and been very pleased with the results.
When adding a line
array system to his rental inventory, Gary King, Owner of Scorpio
Sound Systems, wanted the latest technology. King was attracted
to VERTEC’s sound fidelity, light weight and easy rigging.
“We have been very impressed with our new VERTEC system,”
stated King. “We’ve used the system at a number of
events recently and VERTEC has performed flawlessly every time.”
Scorpio Sound
deployed their VERTEC system at an annual fund-raiser for the
Big Brother Foundation in November. Headline artist, Meat Loaf,
along with Morris Day & The Time performed to a sold-out crowd
at the Park Plaza Castle in Boston, Massachusetts. The converted
armory owned by the Park Plaza Hotel presented a challenge in
that the room has a very high reverberation time. The audio system
had to be very small, yet very powerful. George Wehrlin, FOH Mixer
for Meat Loaf, was impressed with how VERTEC met these challenges.
“I’m extremely happy with Scorpio’s new line
array system,” stated Wehrlin. “I have so much more
headroom with VERTEC on this first show, that I had to re-adjust
my VCA levels from my usual mix setup. The intelligibility and
coverage are very good, even in a room as difficult as this one.”

In December, Scorpio
Sound used their new VERTEC rig for five arena dates with the
Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. The shows, scattered across New
England, included several large arenas where coverage was a primary
concern. The size of the system varied for each show, utilizing
up to 40 VT4889 enclosures, depending on the venue. FOH Engineer
for the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Steve Colby, commented,
“A noticeable characteristic of the system is the clean
high-end, which gave us a remarkable sense of stereo imaging from
most seats in the house. Further, the throw of the high-end to
the high back of the arena was very impressive.” Colby continued,
“I was very impressed with the cleverness of the rigging
scheme and the overall lightness of the cabinet and accessories.
It was a joy to see an array frame that could be easily handled
by one strong stagehand.”
Scorpio Sound
deployed its full VERTEC system for two 10,000-person radio station
holiday shows in December, as well. KISS 108’s “Jingle
Ball” held at the Paul Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA featured
artists such as Destiny’s Child, Kelly Osbourne, Kylie Minogue,
and Nelly. 92 PRO FM’s concert at the Dunkin Donuts Center
in Providence, RI featured Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey,
Uncle Kracker, and Shaggy. Scorpio Sound System Engineer, Kevin
Fuller stated, “VERTEC is the most thought-out PA I have
ever used. We love it.”

Kevin Delaney, Crew
Chief for the Boston Pops shows and both radio show concerts,
was struck by the versatility of the VERTEC PA. “To have
the same rig fly well and sound good with a rock band at 115 dB
one day to a symphony orchestra at 85 dB the next day is remarkable,”
stated Delaney.
