NORTHRIDGE, California – HARMAN’s JBL VERTEC® line arrays were out in force at the recent 2-day Orange Warsaw
Festival June 17-18, where nearly 50,000 people packed the city’s Stadion Legii to see seven leading international and regional artists including Jamiroquai, Plan B, Skunk Anansie, Moby and My Chemical Romance.
Promoted by TVN, the second biggest television station in Poland, in conjunction with international cell phone company Orange, this was the Festival’s fourth year. Once again providing production support was Poland-based rental company GMB Pro Sound, backed by HARMAN’s territory distributor, ESS Audio.
The main PA components for the Festival included two columns of 12 JBL VERTEC VT4889 fullsize line array elements
each, with two further 8-element hangs of VT4889’s providing outfills. Nearfield coverage was entrusted to four JBL VERTEC VT4887 compact line array elements, while sound coverage was extended further back into the stadium via two 8-box VT4889 signal-delayed arrays.
GMB Pro Sound’s system engineers, Janusz Klimowicz and Jakub Wójcik, were entirely comfortable working with the
VERTEC platform, as this has been the rental company’s front line “festival” system for several years. “GMB Pro Sound uses only JBL VERTEC for serving major festivals and concerts,” confirmed ESS Audio director, Witold Karalow. “This veteran rental sound firm owns one of the largest JBL VERTEC systems
in Poland, and the crew is highly experienced with the system.”
Other HARMAN audio products included in GMB Pro Sound’s rental
inventory for the Orange Warsaw Festival included Crown MA and ITech
series amplifiers and Soundcraft Vi6 and Vi4 digital consoles,
which were requested on some of the artists’ contract riders.
The quality of the audio infrastructure certainly didn’t go unnoticed by
the various visiting sound teams—and in particular, both the Skunk
Anansie and Moby production crews gave high praise for the GMB Pro
system and crew. As a result, the event was a major success.
“This is one of the biggest annual festivals in Warsaw,” concluded
Witold. “It is a positive experience every year for sponsors, the artists
and the audience. GMB Pro Sound also uses JBL VERTEC line arrays
for the main stage at the country’s largest festival—the Heineken
Open’er Festival.”
