NORTHRIDGE, California – Continuing one of the nation’s most time-honored holiday traditions, Production Resource Group
(PRG) deployed JBL’s new subcompact VERTEC® line array system to highlight musical performances during the annual
Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in New York. With performances by Mariah Carey, Josh Groban and
Susan Boyle, along with an appearance by the Radio City Rockettes, PRG ensured the bundled-up crowd was completely
immersed in holiday entertainment. Staged on Tuesday, November 30, the Tree Lighting Ceremony featured the traditional
large tree, a 74-foot Norway spruce, with 30,000 LED lights on five miles of wire.
Ground-stacking four JBL VT4886 subcompact line array elements on top of two VT4883
subcompact arrayable subwoofers with arrays positioned on each side of the stage, PRG
turned the world-famous ice rink into center stage for the national live telecast of the Tree
Lighting Ceremony, which aired on NBC as part of the “Christmas in Rockefeller Center”
special.
“JBL VERTEC line array systems have been the reliable, go-to system for our annual work
at the Tree Lighting Ceremony as well as other major projects around the country,” said
Bob Rendon, vice president of PRG. “For several years, NBC has trusted our rigs to
entertain the excited guests surrounding the center and we rely on JBL speakers to
ensure everything is perfect.”
“The event was a complete success,” continued Rendon, “Our VERTEC line arrays always
perform to expectations. They provide the perfect fill and coverage for the rink area and
really allow the performances to be enjoyed by the hundreds of viewers in the sunken
area underneath the tree.”
