In the 1980s 
JBL designed these components into an enclosure, optimizing the performance for legendary sound and reliability. By the end of the 1980s, JBL presented the first Designed System by configuring multiple enclosures, amplifiers and active electronic crossovers to work together to improve sound and reliability. 

In the 1990s
JBL Professional launched EON, integrating the amplifiers and crossovers into the enclosure, eliminating forever the need for separate amplifiers and cables and the knowledge required to hook them all together. EON is easy to use and reliable with all components optimized for maximum performance and minimum hassle.
