Buy the HLA's, you won't be sorry. You won't need 48 subs to go with your mid/highs... 2-1 wouldn't be a very good ratio for a small dance party though but then neither would 2 - 2 flashlight?! I take it you were using the Jands system 4 tops - 2 subs I heard a few years ago when thinking of purchasing an EAW KF850 rig. Needless to say...we bought HLA We seem to NEVER run out of headroom in the bottom end with our rig and we run at a ratio of 6 subs per 8 tops in situations where out of proportion bass is required ie: dub..drum and bass The thing about these subs is that they couple well and still remain very musical (smooth bass lines and punchy bass drums) they require next to no EQ and go down way lower than the turbo subs they just require a lot more power than a turbos. Having never used anything more than MSL3's in the meyer dept I can't really comment, but to say that it blows MSL3 out of the water.
