Surf music never sounded so good as when THE BEACH BOYS, FAMILY, & FRIENDS used our new HLA rig on April 29th. JBL's David Scheirman came in before the show and helped us load-in and tune the system. Jeff MacDonald from JBL rep firm Plus4 Marketing was also on hand for the show lending his experience and cool head. The show was held in a local ballroom measuring 135'd x 165'w with a 14' ceiling. We started with 3 subs on the bottom and stacked 2 rows of 3 mid-highs on top of the subs. We had power to spare and attenuated the mid row of cabinets 3db. to smooth things out. The F.O.H. engineer that came with the band was none other than Steven Desper, F.O.H. engineer for the original Beach Boys and frequent contributor to "MIX" magazine. After walking the room while playing his favorite classical CD, he pronounced the HLA system "damn smooth". Rolling Stone Magazine even sent a correspondent to review the show! (He liked it) All in all, the performance of the HLA product and the support we received from JBL made for a great show.
